Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I’ve never used a mobile grooming service. Where exactly will the grooming be performed?

Q. Can I take a tour of your van?

A.  All grooming is done inside our state-of-the-art mobile salon at your home or office. We are fully self-contained and have everything we need; electricity, heated water, all professional tools and equipment. We are comfortably climate controlled so we’re air-conditioned for summer, and warm and cozy in the winter. All we require is your pet to pamper!

A.  Absolutely! We are proud of our spotless pet spa on wheels and love the opportunity to show it off. All grooming tools and surface areas are cleaned and sanitized after every client. Our vans are state-of-the-art and are the cleanest vans in town! Guarantee!

Q: Why is mobile grooming more expensive than taking my dog to a salon?

Q. How long does the grooming take?

A.   Mobile grooming is a luxury service that is typically about $15 to $20 higher than salon prices. While mobile grooming is not for everyone, many people find the convenience and personal attention that they receive well worth the added cost. You are paying for the grooming salon to come to you and your pet. This saves you time and reduces stress on your pet by not having to transport him/her. You are paying for an express service and individualized attention for your pet. Our pricing is competitive with other mobile services in town and we’ve even been told that our pricing is lower than some of the higher-end groom shops in town!

A.  Typically the grooming process takes about an hour to an hour and a half per pet, but it can vary depending on the coat, breed, and the temperament of your pet.

Q. I’m usually on a very tight schedule and other mobile services I’ve used in the past were never on time. Are you dependable?

Q. How soon can my pet get an appointment?

A. Because of our efficient scheduling and use of a navigation system, we almost always run on time and on occasion may even be earlier than the quoted time frame. If we encounter unforeseen delays such as a pet that required extra attention or traffic delays, you will receive a phone call from your groomer with an estimated arrival time. If for some unfortunate reason we are running over an hour late or need to reschedule, you will be compensated with a discounted rate.

A. As a general rule you should book 1-2 weeks before your desired grooming date. From time to time we may have same day and next day appointments available due to last minute cancellations, so don’t hesitate to call. It’s worth a shot!

Q. How often should I have my dog professionally groomed?

Q. I would like my dog groomed on a regular schedule. Can you set that up?

A. This will vary depending on the breed you have, the haircut desired and how much work you are willing to do on your own. We typically recommend 4-6 weeks for most dogs, but have customers who do it as often as 2 weeks or as long as 8 weeks. Your groomer will help you select a haircut and recommend a maintenance schedule to fit your lifestyle.

A. Yes, we offer standing appointments with our Frequent Fido and Feline Club. Your groomer will provide you with more information and can assist you in signing up.

Q. Do you groom special needs pets?

Q. My pet is already matted and I can’t get them out. What can you do?

A. Yes. Pets with special needs will be accepted on a case by case basis. Your pet’s health is of most importance to us and the grooming service may have to end if there is a risk to your pet.

A. Some tangles or small mats that are away from the skin can sometimes be brushed out, but if your pet is severely matted, we will have no choice but to shave the hair. This is the most humane option as de-matting can be very painful. Shaving the hair and starting over will allow the hair to grow back healthy and your pet will be a lot happier. At that time you can discuss with your groomer what you can do to get your pet into the longer style that you desire.

Q. Should my dog have the anal glands expressed with each grooming?

Q. Why is my pet still wet / damp / fur uneven?

A. Our groomers will check the anal glands as part of the regular grooming service and will only express them if needed. Animals naturally express these glands during normal everyday functions and they should not be hand manipulated unless necessary as this may cause irritation or infection. If the glands cannot be easily expressed by the groomer, or are swollen, we will recommend that your pet be taken to a vet.

A. On very rare occasions a pet may not yield to our tender grooming ways. We will stop service if your pet is in jeopardy of serious injury, emotional or physical. In this event, especially if your spa service was to include a haircut, your pet may be returned to you in a less-than-optimal beauty condition. Your pet will be clean, but perhaps not have symmetrically trimmed fur and/or be completely dry. We will do our utmost to make sure we have accomplished as much as possible and will discuss future options. Upon these rare occasions full spa services will still be charged as these pets usually require extra clean-up time.

Q. Is the groomer’s gratuity included in the price?

A. No, the gratuity is not included in the price. Our groomers appreciate any additional tip that you would like to include. It is appropriate to tip your groomer just as you would you own hairstylist.
